Inner Explorer Therapeutic Program
For kids ages 5-12 experiencing stress, anxiety, overwhelm or impulsivity.
By imparting skills to cultivate self-awareness, improve self-coping strategies, build self-confidence, increase self-compassion, and help shift their perspective/mindset, our Inner Explorer Programs aim to empower kids to think, feel, and behave in ways that support function and their overall well-being. By implementing evidenced-based techniques in a group dynamic, kids will gain a better understanding of themselves and learn invaluable skills to support self-regulation and self-advocacy in social settings.
Our program, run by an occupational therapist, incorporates the following therapeutic techniques, activities, and evidence-based practices:
-
The Alert Program
-
Zones of Regulation
-
Neuroscience Lessons
-
Growth Mindset Activities
-
Emotional Freedom Technique
-

The Brain Balancing – Motor Learning Group
(Grades 3-6)
Research indicates there is a significant association between physical movement, rhythm and timing, and body coordination for academic performance. To function to the best of our ability, we need our brain and body to communicate and work effectively and efficiently. We need a balanced brain.
A ‘Balanced Brain’ is when both sides of the brain are communicating with each other; yet one side is clearly dominant. Mixed dominance, indicative of weak bilateral integration skills, can cause challenges: physical (sports, gym), academic (handwriting, organization, attention, executive function skills), and emotional (regulation, anxiety, low self-esteem).
Three evidence-based programs are the main components of our Brain Balancing Group: Brain Gym, Bal-A-Vis-X, and Interactive Metronome. *See the attached document for more information on each of these programs.
Mental Fitness activities will be integrated throughout the 8-week Group to support kids in developing a more fit, focused, and flexible mindset while learning new skills. Sports related, sensorimotor, activities will also help to keep them engaged and motivated each week.
If your child is struggling with physical, academic, and/or emotional challenges and you have also noticed signs of mixed dominance (or have concerns regarding bilateral integration), please contact us for a screening for placement in our Brain Balancing-Motor Learning Group.
